Live Bait Fishing
South Florida Style

When: January 24, 2012
Doors will open at 7:00PM, meeting at 7:30PM.

Where: Dean's Circle of Excellene Lecture Hall

Scale Certification...see note at the bottom!

Captain Ryan McBride, South Florida tournament angler (sponsors Sea Hunter Boats and Raymarine) and Florida fishing guide (Conched Out Sportfishing), will discuss Live Bait Fishing.

South Florida waters offer numerous targets for offshore anglers...sailfish, swordfish, kings, grouper, tuna, shark, wahoo, and dolphin. While these species can be taken by a number of different techniques, live-baiting remains the go-to, most consistent big-fish catching strategy!

Captain McBride will share some of the live-baiting secrets he uses on his charter boat and on the south Florida tournament trail.

rmcbride_meeting_03.png Topics will include:
  • Kite fishing, slow trolling and drift fishing
  • Gathering, storing and using live baits successfully
  • Tackle, rigs and techniques for sailfish, mackerels, tunas, wahoos and more
Granted, Big Bend Anglers may not see a lot of sails, swordfish or tuna. However, I suspect that there are more than a few big gulf grouper, kings, and wahoo that are looking for that perfect live-bait presentation!
Members are encouraged to bring their hand scales to this meeting for OFFICIAL GOFC CERTIFICATION.   Scales bearing the GOFC Seal of Approval should be used for all GOFC functions, and should be prominently displayed on your vessel.   This highly acclaimed and prestigious certification is valid for one year.
